North West Wedding Photographer: Things To Prepare For

Prepare a shot list

wedding photographyEvery North West wedding photographer out there should make sure that he has his shot list down pat and ready to go before the wedding prep work even starts. Nothing can turn out to be more embarrassing and more disappointing than missing out on some seriously important shots that the clients have been looking forward to but alas, they didn’t find it anywhere in your final photos submitted. This is something that can really turn your clients off to the point wherein they might even attempt to take legal actions against you, if you are not careful. Litigation or without litigation, you need to make sure that you get to cover all bases when it comes to things like these. Talk to your clients and ask them to enumerate all of the important moments in the wedding that you absolutely need to take photos of. If they can help you arrange that shot list in chronological order or in the right order wherein they are supposed to happen in the first place, everything will pan out well enough for you all throughout the time that you are shooting as someone’s wedding photographer.

Wedding dresses are prevalently white.

This is something that you will need to work with as a North West wedding photographer. The camera auto adjusts how the white wedding dress appears in the photos that you are taking. For some reason or another, the camera seems to identify the white wedding dress as something that is a little too bright for the photo even if in reality, it is just something that tends to have a lot of white in it. It will make the white wedding dress come out looking dull and grayish and that is something that you need to rectify in the soonest possible way. Dial in some positive exposure compensation whenever you spot these grayish effects on the white wedding dress and see the difference. The dress will come out looking radiant and glowing and it is something that the bride will really be ecstatic about at the end of the day.

Your second camera body will serve as your insurance as a North West wedding photographer.

You need a second camera regardless if you are a new wedding photographer or an old one because no matter what happens, something’s got to give. Equipment failure is something that can happen to anyone at any time, regardless of how skilled or how unskilled they might turn out to be as a wedding photographer. As a professional in what you do, you need to make sure that you get to cover your bases at all times and have something to pull out in case something happens to your primary camera.

Your second shooter will help you out in more ways than you could ever imagine.

Every North West wedding photographer needs to have at least one. Get a second shooter by recruiting a friend or calling in a favor. You can even exchange instances of being each other’s second shooters if needed.

Baby Photography Shooting Tips

Consider the aspect of using props in baby photography.

wedding photographerBaby photography has been booming for about the past couple of years or so and it is for a pretty good and worthwhile reason. More and more parents are into the aspect of being able to immortalize those fleeting babyhood days of their children. When you come to think about it on a deeper note, it is something that tends to make absolute sense. After all, most of these new parents have not really acclimated to the fact that they have a new baby in the family. Most of them are also tired and sleep deprived all of the time. After all, newborn babies are quite infamous for their erratic sleeping patterns and the parents are completely at their mercy when it comes to things like these. The parents will get a taste of how memorable and how magical those first few years are in the baby’s life through the pictures that you are taking. This is why baby photography is slowly becoming an in demand niche and if you are a photographer who is enterprising enough to checkout the things that are more or less commercially solvent, then you should definitely have baby photography as one of the niches that you can diversify into when it all comes down to it.

Keep the background neutral and minimal as much as possible if it is for a baby photography shoot.

The baby is more than enough content and material that you can focus your camera into. Take note of the fact that baby photography should have the baby in mind right from the start and right until the very end. You can always bring in artsy takes and embellishments to the shoot every now and then but it is very important for you to make sure that you do not lose sight of the fact that you need to have the baby¬† in the front and in the center of anything and everything that you are trying to do or trying to pull off during the shoot. You don’t need anything that is too over the top. Keep things simple and keep things neutral especially when you are trying to set up the backdrop and the other background details for the pictures that you are trying to take.¬† Go for something that is either black, white, grey or beige. Those are the main and ideal colors for backdrops in baby photography.

Go out of your way to make the baby feel comfortable.

Adjust the temperature of the room to make the baby feel cool enough to feel comfortable and just warm enough to feel cozy. Play some nice lullabies or baby music in the background to help set the mood. Adjust the lighting in such a way that it does not irritate the baby’s sensitive eyes. There are so many things that you can do as a photographer to make sure that the baby photography shoot comes by without a hitch and without any hassles.

Wedding Photographer Tips In Getting Experience

Start by practicing as much as you possibly can.

wedding photography tipsDo it whenever you possibly can if you would like to become a professional wedding photographer. Although the saying that practice makes perfect is not really that reasonable or realistic because of the fact that nothing or no one could ever be perfect. What you can be though is someone who keeps progressing and improving and someone who will eventually turn out to be really good at what he does as a wedding photographer. Practice as much as you can. Come up with a certain schedule or practice routine every single day. This is something that you will need to really persevere in. This is not something that will happen right away and this is not something that can be attained easily, either. You are going to need to make sure that you always bring your camera along with you and that you go out of your way to learn everything about it. When you know about all of the settings and modes and what their effects are on the photos that you take, you get to maximize the features of your equipment and you get to produce great looking pictures as well somewhere in the process. Take your camera along with you even during days wherein you are feeling a bit lazy at some point or so.

Offer to shoot weddings for free.

You can start off with friends and other relatives who may be in need of a wedding photographer. You need to keep in mind that technically speaking, you can’t launch yourself as a professional wedding photographer right off the bat. You are going to need to start off with the free stuff. This is the only way for you to gain the kind of experience and the expertise that you need in order for your experience and in order for your skill set to be enough for you to eventually launch yourself as a professional wedding photographer. Talk to the people you know or to people who are currently in your social circles. Let them know about your growing passion and hobby for wedding photography and let them know that you have your sights set on becoming a professional wedding photographer some day. You can also offer to be a wedding photographer for their weddings if they have any coming along. You don’t have to be the main and official wedding photographer just yet. You can just serve as the second shooter. You get to get your feet wet without the responsibilities of the wedding photography coverage lying solely on your shoulders.

Start with the small stuff.

There is no such thing as a booking too small or too unglamorous if you are a new Hertfordshire wedding photographer. Just go ahead and take whatever you can get and whoever might be willing enough to book you and trust you. You will progress and choose your clients eventually but you can’t afford to do that right now so just take whatever is on the table.
